Backpackers Tokyo

I’m thinking of the shiny new year ahead and how travel is something I have loved forever. The fascination began when I was a little girl. My dad worked in the customs service and occasionally had to make visits to Dublin Airport at the weekend. Sometimes he took me with him. So unsurprisingly, I wanted to be an a ir h ostess when I grew up, a dream that persisted until it shattered on a dark day in 1979 when Aer Lingus wrote to tell me I had failed their aptitude tests.

aving been grounded for almost two years, I slowly realised that not being able to hop on a flight didn’t really bother me.
